Oversees and executes day-to-day social media responsibilities, including creating and posting content, monitoring and responding to comments and interactions, and creating and implementing social media campaigns. Develops current and potential social media properties, spearheads new initiatives, and participates in campus-wide social media efforts.

  • Assist with setting of goals and objectives for all Honors College social media accounts. Works on content creation and evaluates the progress of all social media strategies. Identifies opportunities for new initiatives. Stays up to date on the latest social media trends and state-of-the-art technology, such as analytical and content production programs.
  • Creates written, visual, and multimedia content targeted toward specific social media platforms and audiences using platforms such as Canva.
  • Writes headlines and post captions; secures photographs; copyedits proofs; Assists with other online materials as required, including videos and advertisements.
  • Engages with audiences on departmental social media platforms by responding to comments and answering questions.
  • Collaborates with the Division of External Relations, Strategic Communications, and Marketing to ensure brand integrity and standards. Serves as the Honors College Media Liaison with all University units.
  • Interprets media/communication administrative rules and policies and recommends new and improved programs and/or technologies to effectively manage educational media/communication administration.
  • Supervises interns and student assistants as necessary.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field and one (1) year of experience working with social media in a communications, marketing, or public relations setting.
