The A Side: A Day in The Life

This role provides high level support to the International Marketing department at Universal Music UK. The frontline international department represents Universal UK’s labels – Polydor, Island, EMI, Capitol and Decca and their UK signed artists.


The B Side: Skills & Experience


Be Operational

  • Assist in the running of marketing campaigns for UK artists internationally
  • Communicate specific artist activity to both the relevant department marketing manager as well as global communications to the internal teams
  • Communicate with artist management on international updates & reporting including promotions, charts & streaming
  • Attend necessary meetings within the department, label, and international teams in regard to specific artists assisting/leading on
  • Update and distribute the departments newsletter to the global internal teams
  • Liaise with production on product scheduling and distributing the international release schedule to global internal teams
  • Create weekly artist streaming and sales reports
  • Analysis of data in comparison to other artists to give wider context for our artist reporting
  • Planning and executing paid central international media campaigns
  • Communicate all activity regularly updating the team and senior staff on project development and key news


Be Administrative

  • Initiate new releases via UMe in the US where artists do not have a US label
  • Arrange and co-ordinate travel for artists/managers
  • Manage promo requests and create promo schedules liaising with local label and artist managers direct
  • Creating & analysing weekly artist streaming and sales reports for distribution to department, label and artist management
  • Assist/lead in running artist promo days / phoners/ zooms and ID sessions
  • Manage and track budgets to run campaigns and process invoices through Uniport
  • Source venues for artist promo & showcases when in the UK and liaise with local labels internationally on specific artist requirements when in market
  • Cover full marketing updates and communication with dept/label/managers where required when senior staff are off
  • Leading the coordination and distribution of the weekly Spotify NMF results both to the department and to global internal teams
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by marketing team


Person Specification

  • Passionate about music with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Desire to pursue a career within marketing, previous experience highly advantageous
  • Proven experience of working effectively and efficiently under pressure in a calm and organised manner
  • Professional, proactive, and flexible approach to work – ability to prioritise, multi-task & pre-empt problems before they occur.
  • Excellent track record of working to strict deadlines & maintaining a high standard of attention to detail
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally
  • Team player able to work on own initiative
  • Ability to deal with situations discreetly & confidentially
  • Able to demonstrate a tactful and diplomatic approach
  • Experience in using in house computer systems and packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
